So. You're here, but what is here? Well, welcome to the Super Mega Multiverse™ of JayRai, or the culmination of AUs and stories I have for my two OCs, Arai Qwynn and Jayn Hyde. Originally part of a Glitterhearts TTRPG titled Sore Must Be The Storm, Arai and his soul-bound... partner? Partner isn't quite the right word. Soul-bound prisoner Jayn have grown into a never-ending brain rot. I explore their dynamic and nature by putting them in different situations, figuring out how they would be who they are in that situation, and then letting things play out in my head, usually with whatever music I'm obsessed with at the moment.
who is arai?

Arai Qwynn takes on many different forms, but he does have some distinguishing features. In nearly all iterations, Arai is an extremely obsessive and possessive individual, while also remaining entirely passive. He is very selfish, but doesn't fully understand that this is a "bad" or "wrong" thing. He will accidentally hurt those around him simply by taking the course of action that he believes to be best. That course of action typically results in what's best for him and not for the greater good, but he doesn't really see the difference.
Arai's obsession often culminates onto JAYN, much to her dismay. In every universe that they are present in, Jayn presents a solution. Whether that be to his colorblindness (as seen in SMBTS and CoC), his bullying (as seen in KBL), or just someone who treats him well (as seen in xianxia), Jayn presents as something that Arai can't have (or believes he can't have) from anything else.
Visually, Arai typically is tall, thin, and pale. He usually has long, blond hair that he keeps in a ponytail with one lock free in front of his face. Depending on the AU's access to hair dye, this front lock is about half-dyed periwinkle, Arai's favorite color. If you're thinking he looks monochrome, you got it! Ding ding ding! Do you want a trophy?

- that obsession culminates onto Jayn in one way or another
- inferiority combined with superiority complex. it sounds contradictory but it's so present and real you just gotta take my word for it.
- going off of that, just contradictory in general. this guy is a mess, is hard to read, and makes no sense.
- narcisistic, selfish, and apathetic.
- fragile sense of self/self-worth (can have both or just one)
- aloof, either accidentally or on purpose. doesn't see the reason for friends, though the reason why is fluid

Notably, Arai's colorblindness (and other magical sense loss, as I like to call it) is not an essential aspect of Arai's character. It's just a catalyst for the essential aspect of any JayRai relationship: obsession.
Who is Jayn?

Jayn Hyde also takes on many forms, though they always have their rage. Jayn is always defined by their rage, though its source differs depending on the AU. It typically stems from loneliness, though again, this loneliness's source depends entirely on the AU and Jayn's cirucmstances. This rage and loneliness is always grouped with her never-ending obsession with persona and appearance. They have a mask for any situation and a carefully calculated response for every surprise. They are not one to rely on impulses or whims, and typically rely on their curated script for every day interactions.
Jayn is obsessed with figuring out how people tick. It's for their own selfish reasons, but they're fascinated with how other people react to various information. They keep tabs on everyone they know, and pride themselves on how accurate they are when predicting behaviors, plans, and reactions. This is also a major source of frustration for them, however, as the only person who proves himself a problem is Arai. So, Jayn tries his best to poke and probe at Arai, to no avail. Their mutual obsession and infatuation with each other is a horrible feedback loop that neither of them can escape on their own.
Visually, Jayn is defined by bright, pleasing colors. Their hair is always red or orange, their eyes always the bluest of blues, and their wardrobe always colorful, but never gaudy. Their entire existance is a performance, every outfit a costume. They have warm-toned, brown skin and typically wear a little make up every day, usually only some subtle eyeshadow and concealer for their pereptual eye-bags. Their eyes and hair are intentionally complimentary, and are the two things that Arai fixates on when Jayn gives them color vision.

- rage directed towards those around her that stems from crushing loneliness
- self-worth tied to how useful they can be, while also accepting their use only through their own definition of usefullness (basically no one but themselves can call them useless)
- stubborn, jealous and vindictive
- views the world like a game of D&D and they are the DM
- has a white-knuckled, rage-filled, desperate grip on persona, masks, and facade
- crafts scripts for different goals, carefully controlling how they are percieved down to the most minute detail, always asking herself how she comes across, how she can get what she wants out of the situation, and the best script to follow for any given moment
